Digitize-it specializes in scanning of pictures, creation of digital photo albums, creation and maintenance of Web albums, and correction of minor defects on photographs. I've seen
many ads about $1 scanning. What is special about your service?
A scanning order for less than 100 pictures can usually be performed within 48 hours after we receive the photographs. Photo Albums (and Web albums) require page layout work that can take upto one week. Please note that these are estimates and we do not guarantee the exact turn-around times. If you will contact us regarding your order then we can give you a more precise estimate. Can my pictures be saved in formats other than JPEG? Yes but only if you use digitize-it just to scan your pictures. Since our other services require creation of images that can be viewed with different Internet browsers, we can't use any other format than JPEG. We can also use GIF format for your albums but since it is limited to 256 colors, we strongly encourage you not to. What if I don't have a Web browser? We include a free copy of Netscape Navigator 4.04 just in case. If you don't want to use a Web browser to find the picture than you can open the Locate-It Index file to quickly locate a name of the file where the photo that you are looking for is located. You can then use any image viewer that supports JPEG to open the file. What dpi (dots per inch) value do you use to scan the pictures? By default, we scan pictures at 72 dpi since this setting seems to produce images of high quality without making the size of the files overly large. Please not that if you order your photos to be outputed to CD-ROM then 200 dpi scans are going to be included free of charge. If you want to scan your pictures at a higher dpi setting, please contact us and we will try to accomadate you. Can you create Photo Albums using existing digital images? Yes. Please contact us regarding pricing. How many CDs can you create?
Yes. Please refer to our "Photo scanning" page for more information. The price of mailing back the pictures is included in the price of creation of the digital album. How do you determine the order of the pictures when you put them into digital photo album? If you want a specific order than you can either number the pictures or put them in a specific order. If you use the latter system than we will put pictures into the album starting with the photo on top of the pile. We strongly encourage you to number the pictures since this will insure that the pictures will be in the order that you want them to be in and there will be no misunderstanding. Please e-mail us with you problem and we will do our best to correct it. Do you have other services (picture retouching, cropping, resizing, etc.)? Yes. Please contact us regarding the price as the pricing varies depending on how complicated the task is. |
